I have only been working with CAD about a year I'm still a student I'm not great with computer dialogue or lingo. I am working on a project that requires seven different drawings. Every time I save a drawing it duplicates it and it's not duplicated as a backup file it is duplicated as a normal DWG file. It has been doing it since day one. They are not bank backups they do not say bank they do not say PDF. They are all DWG duplicates. How do I stop this?

I have had similar problem, but it was not a autocad issue. In my case it was a cloud service issue, I worked with files on a folder that was synced to icloud and icloud syncing messed things really up for me. I ended up with dozens of copies of files that were not dwg or bak but some other format and they could not be opened with autocad. Lost a days worth of school project. I copied the working files to antoher folder, that was not synced to cloud and that resolved the problem for me.

@jonnahair Are you storing your files in the cloud? That's your issue, regardless of OS.
Simple fix to test the theory: unplug from the internet/network/wifi/bluetooth on your computer/laptop and see if the issue continues or not and what stops working.

Hay Jazadi,

Thank you, it may be. Per your advice, I have gone in and changed where the backup will land. Fingers crossed I did it correctly I'm new to PCs,

Thanks,
