In AutoCAD 2015 or 2016, type GRAPHICSCONFIG and turn off hardware acceleration to see if that helps. Or, if it's off, turn it on.
You can also try unchecking all the boxes under the Preview section on the Selection tab in Options.
Thanks for your response. I already tried that both on AutoCAD 2014 & 2015. They both have the same condition. Recently, we upgraded my Graphic Card from K2000 to K4200 NVidia Quadro with two 32 in Monitors and then this happened. My system are Window 7 Pro, HP WS 620 Xeon (R) @ 2.1 GhZ, 8 GB Ram,. We thought this gonna be even more faster but this freezing issue had taking my production slow. I also changed my window screen to the basic as some guy suggested, still nothing had changed. Any further help from you guys please? Thanks..
Do you have the Autodesk Certified Driver installed for your new graphics card? What is the resolution of the 2 monitors and what type of cable are you using to connect them to your computer?
Thanks nrz13, I just reload my CD for driver, I will let you know if that will work. For Monitors, I have Samsung 32" 2560X1440 resolution, 88.8 kHz 60 Hz, and its connected in HDMI port. Also, see attachment for Tuner Log.
I would use the driver I linked to, which is certified for AutoCAD, instead of the one on the CD. I was thinking you might have two 4K or 5K monitors, which could put a lot of strain on the graphics system, but what you have seems reasonable to me.
try to check your atuocad fonts directory and delete fonts that you don't use .. maybe it will help.
It may help to check the following things:
- Do you have considerable amounts of Images, Wipeouts, OLE Objects in your drawings ?
- Do you have layers switched off (but not frozen) where large amounts of objects reside ?
- Are there Point Clouds (LIDAR) Data, even far off screen ?
- Are you working with a 3d _shademode instead of 2d ?
- Are there many snapmodes (_osnap) switched on (2D and/or 3d), or tracking modes or the snap (F9) or the grid (F7) ?
- Do you have LWDISPLAY always on ?
- Do you have Blocks with very detailed graphics, maybe very small, or with wipeouts inside ?
- Did you try to experiment with options->display->Display resolution and Display performance ?
- Did you try to alter options->drafting->Auto Track settings (i.e. switch them off)
- Do you have many scales in your drawings (I had recently one with hundreds, it was awfully slow) ?
- Do you have usually very big coordinate values ?
- Does this behaviour occur if you start from scratch with no objects, adding elements gradually ? Or does it depend on certain projects/drawings ?
- Did you try to isolate your workstation from every network (temporary disabling any network card)
- Is there any other application running on your machine, which could interfere, or use much RAM that Acad then lacks ?
regards, k.
nrz13, I guess you are correct. After I downloaded your provided link of certified driver, everything become smooth. No more sticky or freezing cursor, I can now easily open text and dimesion for editing even the Layer and Properties Manager window are open. The only problem I have seen during downloading is... it did not recognize the monitors that flashed out in the screen. Still, it's ok That's really helpful. I wonder why the CD provided by the Nvidia with the new graphic card package did not really work well since its their own product. Anyway, thanks a lot nrz13, you're very direct to the point, very detail and no silly things to ask. You deserve to be an great Advisor in this CAD Community. Thanks a lot and God Bless.
I thougth everything would be smooth after I got help from a good guy here in this forum. A week after, the problem came up again. Still taking slow especially when editing text and dimension, even in a new drawing. Any more help about this issue please?
I tried that! Please read the whole posted responses including my replied post. We have tried all those. Still, no luck 'til this time.
