STEP file to DWG to DXF

STEP file to DWG to DXF

I am having issues when i convert a STEP file on inventor fusion into autocad as a dwg.

I am then taking the dwg and needing to make it into a 2D DXF file for my fellow employee.

My fellow employee is running an Anvil 1.3 program on a DOS operating system.

Currently when i break down the model into 2d and save and send to him, when he opens it ends up only showing arcs and radii in the dwg with no lines attached.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Conversions can sometimes be tricky at best. Can you share a sample Inventor file that you want to drop down to 2D DXF/DWG format? I am happy to take a look at this issue for you.

Hi I am able to get the STEP file converted into a DWG format. I then in 3d
cad mode in AutoCAD just removed the view I need and deleted the rest of the
lines. From there I saved it as a DXF, which is the file type in which my
coworker needs for this dos based anvil system he still uses.

If I open the DXF all the lines are there, but when he opens it in his files
all he gets are the curves.

I'd like to show you a file but I can't extract any information from his dos
based computer which seems to be where the issues begin

HI @Anonymous,

I am not familiar with Anvil. Do you have a link to the developer's website? I am happy to take a peek to see if it wants the DXF in specific format such as 2010 binary or ascii.
