Start Tab - Recent files

Can anyone tell me if you are limited to 9 files showing on the Recent files on the Start Tab - or is there any way to get to see more - there's a lot of extra space on the screen (28" 4k monitor) - could easily show 15?????

If I remember correctly, AutoCAD tells you the max is nine.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Changed the Options - Open & Save - Application Menu number - didn't change
anything until I opened a new drawing - then all change - weird. Now I have
15 recents on Start Tab.

Cheers

Any number up to 50 it would seem - it was opening that other drawing that
altered the number showing - why I don't know but it works.

For clarification:  In the OPTIONS dialog under "Open and Save"

  • File Open - Controls settings that relate to recently used files and open files.  Valid values are 0 to 9. (These are the files you see when you File >Open)
  • Application Menu - this number controls the number of recently used files listed in the application menu’s Recent Documents quick menu. Valid values are 0 to 50. (These are the files you see when you click on the Autodesk Logo on the top left)

Hi @Anonymous

I am able to confirm that, increasing the number of recent files in the application menu does increase the no of recent files in the File menu. Works well in AutoCAD 2018. But need to restart AutoCAD to reflect these changes 🙂

What about clearing the list of recent drawings in one shot, instead of clicking one by one? Is there a Variable Mode for that?

This problem has all been solved with AutoCAD LT 2024 - I now have 40 recent thumbnails on my screen - check the attached screenshot.

... with a couple of sorting options to boot (all AutoCAD2024 variants)
