Splines not flat in Autocad 2010

You would think that if you created a series of points on the ZO plane and then run an spline thro' ithem the spline would be flat on the Z0 plane.

But no the spline deviates slightly from the Z0 plane along its length.

As a result it is pointless tying to include it as part of a polyline because the Spline is not in the same plane other than at each end.

The deviation is microscopic but its enough to scupper everything.

The flatten command does not seem to flatten anything.

Does anyone know how I can force an spline to stick to the ZO plane like wallpaper ?

Hi,

 

can you show the drawing with the spline?

Sometimes I get such objects and saw that using objects snapes during the spline-creation catched points with Z <> 0.0

I'm not sure whether this was present by 2010/11/12 versions, but if it's available, set the OSNAPZ System Variable to 0 before drawing it.

 

Otherwise, are your points truly on the Z0 plane?  If so, are you Osnapping to them using Node Osnap, or perhaps by some means that might find a different elevation at some of them?

 

If Flatten doesn't take care of it [hard to imagine why not], can you draw it point by point using .XY point filters when Snapping to Points, and give it 0 when it asks for the Z value each time?  Perhaps a bit tedious, but it could probably be automated.
