Hi I'm new to AutoCAD and cant seem to use "Offset" or Fillet" in a new drawing but they both work in an old saved drawing from last week. There could be other thing not working but I havn't gotten that far yet so ill keep an eye out. does anyone have an idea on what it could be.

Cheers Cam

Hi,

>> cant seem to use "Offset" or Fillet" in a new drawing

What does AutoCAD show you in the command line when you start the command(s)?

Hi after i type in the offset(200mm) it says " select object to offset or [exit undo] <exit>

When i select the line and move cursor down it say's "Specify point on side to offset or [exit multiple undo] <exit> BUT the line doesn't move stays blue then turns white when i click mouse.

Works fine in the other drawing window ???

Hi,

So this is an issue with a specific drawing and a specific object, not an issue with every new drawing, is that correct?

Please upload the drawing with that entity.

I actually think its a setting? I noticed when i go to offset and drag the cursor down a fine dotted line shows up in the direction I'm moving in but on the other saved pictures the line isn't there? Probably an easy fix...

Hi,

>> I actually think its a setting?

If it's drawing dependent then it's a drawing internal setting.

>> when i go to offset and drag the cursor down a fine dotted

>> line shows up in the direction I'm moving

Please be more specific! "when I go to offset" ... is not specific enough, I guess you already have started the offset command, then AutoCAD asked you to specify an offset distance, again I guess you already have used the left mouse click to start to show the distance and now you get a drag-line visible (an orange dashed line) ... is that correct? You are asked for a second point (so AutoCAD can calculate the distance between point 1 and point 2) ... what did you do now?

Or is it all done in another way? If so .. what EXACTLY did you do?

And again, if it's drawing dependent it could help a lot if you show us your dwg-file.
