Solid Subtraction

Hi,

I am a new user and i am having some trouble subtracting two solids.

First i made the 2d draft for both geometries and then used the push/pull feature to get the extrusion feature. Then used align command to get both geometries to intersect to as i want. The next process for me was to subtract the top right/left section of the geometry but whatever i tried, it was not working.

Given below us what i am trying to achieve.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

@manuwilliam37 ,

Welcome to the forum.

Post the drawing to check any issues.

Also, consider reviewing the steps to SUBTRACT the objects.

What does "doesn't work" mean? Are there any messages on the command line?
Are you sure you are choosing different solids for subtraction and subtrahend? I doubt it because you haven't even made the subtracted solid even slightly outside of the original solid.

Here are three approaches:

1.  Using boundary, create a region for the shape that the arrows point to then extrude the region.  Use the Boolean subtract to remove the unwanted material.

2. Create a region of the closed inclined shape and extrude it.  The use the Boolean intersect to yield the solid you want without the excess material in the corners.  This approach will require you to reconstruct the base rectangular portion of the shape.

3. Start from scratch and extrude only the inclined 2D shape and union it will a flat to-the-world rectangular box.

I recommend the 3rd option.

Good luck.
