snaps keep cycling around vertices - basically hanging the machine.

Highly annoying behavior all of a sudden in acad 2018 and 2019 (though I've experienced it before):

Upon drawing anything using snaps (endpoint), the first point is easy... but then whenever I move my mouse over anything, it'll just start cycling through any vertex in the neighborhood (and we have complex aluminium profiles in our drawings)… basically hanging the machine/software because I then need to wait for ages until it finally stops (which may cause severe damage to the machine as I get to a point where I start using violence like tossing it out of the window.)

Please any help that does not involve switching off snaps completely - that was never needed before either.

Hi,

if you start a new and empty CAD drawing , draw a line and any other shapes , Now ... does your problem still exist ?

Well obviously, if there's nothing to snap to... it doesn't.

If there's a polyline contour of a bit of complexity, the cursor will just hang there and the vertices will get repeatedly highlighted, one after the other, for ages.

If it's related to any of the objects and I need to first put such an object in the new drawing to test, that wouldn't be very clarifying.

However, older drawings exhibit the same problem and if I do stick a more complex polyline in a new drawing, it will as well.

can you share it with us as CAD drawing sample please ? also would you take a screenshot when your cursor catch a vertices ?

Sorry,, because of legal stuff I am not allowed to do so... but this did clarify one thing: on a fresh drawing, when I make a quick 30 vertex small object, zoom out and try to draw a line to a point in it's vicinity, it doesn't show the behavior.

However the objects I can't share have far more sections, and in the drawing I need to get done 2 days ago (yes :cara_asombrada: ) there's also some 3d objects far away (required reference for testing) and some of the 2D blocks (including the polylines) are scaled in y (but not in x and z).

The highlights are little white crosses skipping from vertice to vertice (I do not have blipmode on). It's actually sort of nice looking if it wasn't slowing me down terribly and reduces any precision to nil.

Note on the screenshot how the blips aren't anywhere near the cursor object snap (green square)

we just need a little part of your drawing ( just few lines where the problem exist ) . BTW ... would you check if your 3d osnap is OFF ( F4 ) ?

Those white blips appear when object snap tracking is turned on and represent tracking points. If you don't use object snap tracking turning this off might help.

You've got complex drawings. Running object snaps can be an issue if there are a lot of available snaps within your aperture. Making your aperture smaller will help make the number of available snap points less and might help.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Hi,

Never have seen that ... can you create a screencast that shows this issue (>>>free Autodesk Screencast<<<).

3DO snap is off.
Tried it without object snap tracking, still get the blips.
Now made aperature size is the same as autosnap marker size (see screenshot). This seems to have reduced the issue somewhat, thanks!

Installed the screencast, but it requires me to restart etc... no time atm - will follow up later.
