Simultaneous Printing

Hey all,

About 10-30 times a day I need to print a hard copy of a drawing to a network printer and also save this to a network drive.  I do this the manual way now by first printing through AUTOCAD and then Plotting to PDF through AUTOCAD.  I would like to be able to do this in one shot.  Is there a solution for simultaneously printing to two different printers?

You should look into Automatic Publish.  See Options, Plot and Publish, lower left is Auto Publish section.

Always save a copy of the drawing before trying anything suggested here.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

AutoPublish might help you with this. This can be effective if you edit each of your sheets and then save them it can automatically save a dwf or pdf for you.  The publish command however won't do this though. You can obviously set up a sheet list and print to a pagesetup that points to a predefined printer and then change the set to PDF  in the "Publish to" field.

Otherwise, you might explore Batch Plotting or take a look in the Autodesk App Store to see if there are any utilities that can do this for you.

I often need the same work flow, and by choiice I'll plot to PDF, and then print the PDF to hardcopy.  Minimal interaction needed, and works reasonably well with publishing from sheet set manager.  (Also lets me verify that what I think I'm printing, is actually what I'm getting on paper)

You could also create a Macro fairly easily with the Action Recorder.  Work out all the steps, write them down, do this for your plotter and plotting to PDF.  Do this by using the -plot command and watching at the command line, writing down the answer to each prompt.  Finally start action recorder and follow those steps one by one, save it with a name and call it when ever you need.  Similar to a script file.
