Ever since I upgraded to Autocad 2022, things have been acting up..

My current problem is that Holding SHIFT will not temp override into ORTHO mode. I has always worked before. I already have the key setup in the UCI nothing has changed. I even removed and added it.. restarted the program. restarded the PC.. I am out of options..

I already changed orthomode to F2.. But I like and want the original Shift as the temporary..

please help

Have you checked if TEMPOVERRIDES system variable is set to 1 ?

Yes, I have tried this..

After making the change.. when I press SHIFT, it cancels my command and erases whatever i am trying to move by temp overirde.

Please, check the following default values in CUI > Keyboard Shortcuts > Temporary Override Keys > Toggles Orthogonal Mode

Key(s):

SHIFT

Macro 1 (Key Down):

^P'_.orthomode $M=$(if,$(and,$(getvar,orthomode),1),$(-,$(getvar,orthomode),1),$(+,$(getvar,orthomode),1))

Macro 2 (Key Up):

blank

If the problem still remains, I'd suggest reseting the CUIx, trying another keyboard to discard any hardware/driver issue, install any available Update/Hotfix or editing the temp override shortcut to SHIFT+Z.

Not stupid at all, No i have not.. I am actually going to pull the swithces and replace the springs this weekend.. The shift keys still work but the function doesn't seem to work using either left or right shift..

i have attempted today the CUIX RESET and have not had success.. just lost all my settings..

I have updated CAD to the most recent 2022.0.1 upate and have not had any succes..

All the macros are the same and have not had success.

Kind of wish i never updated to 2022 and stayed with 2019.

If its not broke, dont fix it ! :cara_de_decepción:

Replace your keyboard instead of wasting time trying to clean it and it does still does not work: run out tomorrow and pick up a dirt cheap wired one for testing purposes.

If you think that is a productive tool, try out OSnap and Polar Tracking. They are more powerful and versatile than Ortho.

I use both Osnap and Polar tracking they are great..

Howver, with the temp override SHIFT option, it allows me to jump in and out quick to draw my refrence lines, or quickly get the 90 and 180 degrees.

this is a very powerful tool i use and need so if anyone has additional options to get this fixed it would help alot

I don't see how ortho is faster but to each his own.

I guess if you were in my shows and understood the kind of work i was doing then you'd see toggling a temp shift key is a lot faster than that 1-2 second lag to find a tracking point

Did I ask for an explanation? Especially, one that says I have to be there. Hardly proves anything.

Good luck.

Thanks for your useless input. Some people just like to talk to hear themselves..

Hi,

when you login to your system with a different Windows user account, then start AutoCAD (without loading any personal tools/apps) ... can you use the <SHIFT> key then?

I have not been able to try this.. I will try when I get to work and see if a co worker can log in using their windows account...

In a similar manner, I am working from home today.. I have downloaded auto cad to my personal computer, logged into my account and imported my settings.. I seem to be having the same lack of problem.. I didnt change any settings prior to this problem other than updating to 2022.

This is an update:

I opened AUTOCAD 2019 on my desktop and the Temp Override SHIFT key works perfectly with the same profile settings.

If I cant seem to find a soution for 2022, then Id prefer to just use the conveniece of 2019. Is a a personal and helpful tool.

I do appreciate everyone's help..

Hi,

>> logged into my account and imported my settings

You should not import settings when you know that these settings have issues, because then you import your problems too!
