Sheet Set Manager - DWG file issues???

I have come across a situation where we have a Sheet Set Manager created with multiple users editing and working on various drawings for a project. Most of our users understand to use the SSM to open the DWG files instead of through the file folder. Someone who was working on the file had made some changes (not opening the file through the SSM) saved the file and noticed some of the changes were not retained when we plotted the project through the SSM.

Any idea how this could happen?

I'm not sure I understand the part about opening the dwg files directly vs opening them thru the SSM.  Its been my experience that opening a file that has a layout belonging to a sheet set opens the sheet set as well as the drawing.  Opening and saving with multiple users hasn't yielded any problems in my firm.

Were the unsaved changes to the SSM or to the dwg file?

You are correct, if you open the DWG (not through the SSM) the associated SSM opens. I wasn't sure if opening the DWG not using the SSM would have any affect.

The unsaved changes were in the DWG files. One of our users made some changes to a DWG and saved the DWG. The next day when we plotted the project and noticed that particular DWG that was modified the previous day did not retain the updates that were made the previous day.

It may be an internal issue as were are experiencing some AutoCAD glitches with some new machines we are using, we have had to perform a complete reset with one of the new machines we received. It may be possible the user made the changes and saved the work but when the reset was performed it reverted the DWG file to the unsaved condition.
