Setting up a default drawing template.

Hi Guys,

I am setting up a standard drawing template for my new employer and as it has been 10 years since I have done this I am struggling to remember some aspects.

I have set up the title block and set the page size as A3 and inserted a viewport.  So far so good.

My issue is that once I have completed my drawing in model space and go to paper space to print the drawing I have noticed that the scaling is incorrect.  For example,  draw a part 1000mm long and when I go to paper space I can set the scale at 1:1 and is fits nicely in the view port and I know this is wrong.

Can somebody please tell me what I am missing as I am getting frustrated with myself as I am sure it is an elementary fix.

Cheers,

James

Your paper size is ±1160 mm wide.
So why do you think an 1000mm part should not fit at full scale?

Measure your titleblock.  And don't use Fit to Page if you want prints at a scale.

It appears you have created a border that is larger than your paper size and then print it to fit. You should scale your border to the actual size of the paper size you wish to print to (A3) and then see how everything looks. Cheers.

OK, so how do I fix this.  I want the template to print at A3 and for parts to scale as per that page size.

As I say, it has been a while.

Great, thanks!

As I said, I knew it was something simple.

Cheers.

Scale your template to fit the paper and plot a 1:1. Try this. Cheers.
