Does anybody know how to set Metric system to the default unit? I feel really uncomfortable with the fact that Imperial system is the default units.

Go to Options > Files tab > Template Settings > Default Template File Name for QNEW
set it to acadiso.dwt
Typically for AutoCAD 2017 at:
C:\Users\YOURNAME\appdata\local\autodesk\autocad 2017\r21.0\enu\template\acadiso.dwt

When you start a new drawing from the Quick Access Toolbar > QNEW
... your drawing will be set up for metric units and the basic AutoCAD flavoured metric Dimension styles, ISO-25 and Annotative.
Add any of your personal metric dimension styles and title block layouts to that template and you are already ahead.
