set dimensions/text in paperspace, which underlay hatches in modelspace

good morning all.

I have a situation which I'm finding a bit irksome.

I have a series of text items, which I set up in paperspace, but are underlaying hatches made in model space.

I've tried setting draw order, bringing the text to the front, and setting the hatch to the back, but it's not working. 

According to a coworker who's been here for a while, he's seen this resolved, but doesn't remember what was involved. 

Does anyone have a solution to this? 

The condition which we're using this is when the hatch is solid.

OK.

Me thinks I've found it.

It appears that while I can be on a layout tab, I have to be in modelspace to activate it to find the pertinent hatches and text items. 

It does do what I wanted, so I'm going to take this as the solution..... for now.

Also check your page setups for plotting, and ensure that 'Plot Paperspace Last' is checked.
