Set dimension arrowhead size in dimension style manager.

No matter what size I set it at, the arrowhead is microscopic. I have changed the overall dimension to 48.000, or to 1, it is the same size. I didn't have this problem in AutoCAD 2013.

  1. It isn't a DWT, you shared a DWG.  I understand... DWT's have to be zipped to share on these forums.
  2. You have 20 text styles... WOW!  These styles have diferent heights.  If you are going to use annotative scaling your text styles should be set with zero heights, then heights set in the dim style, text editor, and leader styles.
  3. You do not have 1 dim style, you have 3.  They are all using the Romans text style which is set to 9"
  4. You had your Model Space annotation scale set as 1/8" = 1'.  The purpose of this is to make annotative dimensions and text scale to the specified setting.

Try this...

  • Open the drawing you sent.
  • Type ST to get your text style manager (Romans should be current).
  • Set the height to 0"
  • Click Set Current, just to be sure, and then OK
  • Go to your dimension style manager and set Standard as current.
  • Modify the Standard dim style.
    • Symbols and Arrows tab
      • Arrow size = 1"
    • Text tab
      • Text height = 1"
    • Fit tab
      • Click Annotative to fill with checkmark
  • Click OK
  • Click Close to shut the dim style manager.

Place a linear dimension anywhere and notice your arrows and text.  Use DI to measure the horizontal length of an arrow.

Shows 8' right?

8' = 96", 1/8" goes into 12" 96 times.

1"  height and size settings yields 8'  for 1/8"=1' annotative scale.

If you don't favor what I have shown just use undo->all

You have so many sizes and styles at work here.  This was normal before annotative styles but using annotative styles has proven to be more efficient and requires fewer styles in a given drawing.

Hope this helps,

Blaine

In 2013 you were probably using Leaders instead of Mleaders. Leaders use the dimstyle settings; MLeaders have their own dialog box for setting them up. To use Leaders in 2019 type "Leader" at the command prompt.

To avoid all this confusion check into using Annotative scales for the text, dimensions and mleaders. See this >>Autodesk University video<< if you don't know how they work. Basically, you set the styles up for the finished plot size and let AutoCAD do the math.

You also might consider looking into having the titleblock in paper space at scale 1:1 and use a viewport for the model space elements that are also drawn at 1:1.

If I use MLD mleader, the arrow seems to be good. Why would there be such disparity between the two commands? (I just want the arrow and line, don't do a lot of dimensioning, thankfully)I guess I need to go back and change all my settings in dimension style setup. I will just copy what I had in 13 again, but that wasn't working right, before. (It did work in 13, just not in 19.)

I would have liked to stay with 13 until I retire in two or three years. It was simpler. Thank you.
