selection problem

I am proving the new Autocad 2017 and when using a command, e.g. erase, and starting to select the first object to erase I never get to do it. I mean the first click does not select any objet. I have to click twice which is quite awkward. It is the same with align, move, ... I do not know if there is any clicking variable or similar to modify this.

Thanks

try changing your PICKFIRST variable to see if you get the results you are looking for.

I have already tried it, but no way. It is like I were too "fast" and pressed the left button before the command got started...

I have seen some have similar issues because they "work to fast" you can try disabling dynamic input or changing DYNPROMP or DYNMODE.

If nothing else i would try a driver update/roll back for your pointing device and if that doesnt work i might try restoring CAD to its defaults.

Are you using the icons

or

are you using the command line?

I think the icon is actually selected on mouse up, not on mouse down.

I have seen users start to get fast and move their mouse selection away from the icon before letting up on the button.  Acts like no command selected.

Try this, select Erase, but do not let up on the button until moving the mouse away from icon.

Does this reproduct the behavior you are seeing?

Now try again, select Erase, but be sure to let up on mouse pick button before moving mouse from icon.

Does it now work as expected?

The behavior you describe sounds different than this, as it sounds like you are getting into the command. But just to be sure...

Edit: Well I did a bit more experimenting and the behavior you describe sounds more like a missed pick on first click and then you are getting a selection (crossing) that allows you to get on second pick.

Can you create a Screencast recording of your steps?

I use the command line.
Yes, it is like a missed pick on first click, buy I do not get a selection crossing, I have to repeat the clicking so I get the pick!!!
Any idea?
Will try a screencast...

Thanks!!!

Sorry to resurrect and hijack an old thread but your interpretation is correct it is like a missed pick for me too. For example Stretch enter, pick and release for window nothing, second pick and release, window starts. Sequential stretch command and on first pick and release the window starts.  A few commands later a Move command click and release for window nothing second pick window starts.  Now one part I have noticed is that if I click and drag with the mouse button down the window never fails. This adaptation is annoying and I would like to return to click and release starts the selection window.

Thank you for your attention.

Hi @efransen,

Is this happening only in AutoCAD?  It almost sounds like your Windows ClickLock got involved.  Is it possible to try a different physical mouse to see if it corrects the problem?

Click lock seems to have fixed it but that does not explain the erratic behavior.  I tried to do a screencast when it was behaving that way after the click lock but I have two monitors and recorded the wrong monitor and from that point on I could not get it to behave badly.  Of course the Maytag effect kicked in. We shall see...

Thanks for the tip.

HI @efransen,

Let me know how this proceeds. I hope that it now stubbornly behaves correctly!

Hi @Anonymous,

That feature should be available in your Windows Mouse Control Panel.

Did not solve problem.  It also annoyingly changed the behavior of the other windows programs (naturally as it is a windows variable).
