Scale question

I'm trying to setup AutoCad to print in 1/4"=1'0 scale

I realize to do this I can change the scale in paper space to 1/4"=1'0 but would I then model things in 1 to 1 scale in model space and simply change the scale in paper space?

Does changing the scale to 1/4" = 1'0 scale in paper space effect text height? 

If I wanted text height to be 1/4 inch could I make it 1 inch in model space and set the scale to 1/4inch = 1'0 in paper space?

Hello,

Depnds with the desired outcome. Should you want the text height to remain the same if you have more than one viewportwwith the different scales, then you'd have to adjust the scale in the paper space. But if it's only one viewport then you can "cheat" and use any scale since all text heights are the same.

That notwithstanding, the best way I normally an iterative process if checking what scale suits best on the paper space before fully annotating your drawing then use the desired text height before placing your viewports on the sheets.

So if I had 2 viewports one at a scale of 1/4=1'0

and one viewport that is set to 1/2"=1'0

and I want text height in both viewports to be 1/4"

I would set the text height in the 1/4 viewport to 1 inch [the scale would then scale it to 1/4 inch]

and in the 1/2 scale viewport I would set the text height to 1/2 inch and the 1/2 inch scale would scale it to 1/4 inch?

Is that correct?

Are you sing annotative text and dimension styles? That's a requirement to get the results you want. It's not hard to implement but it is a commitment to sue.
