Save As not updating to new file name

Hey,

So Ive had this problem for a while, I can Save As a file as a new file name however it will stay as the original.

For example, I have Version 1 open, I the save as Version 2, the file i have open will stay as Version 1 and if i then click save it will save over Version 1.

Is this some where in the option that i can change so when Ive saved as it will essentially have that file open?

Im working with AutoCAD 2016.

Thanks,

Caroline

That's as it should be. (i believe)

Are you saving from the command line or are you using the file dialog box?

There are basically three different ways to save.

QSAVE:                 Saves drawing with current filename.

SAVEAS:               Saves drawing as new name, continues in new name.

SAVE:                   Saves drawing as new name, continues in old name. (Command line only)

(from between the lines)

Try changing your save method and see if it works.

Ahh, thats what it is!

I just use SAVE in the command line.

I guess I'll just have to get used to SAVEAS when I need to.

Thanks!
