Run Time error 482 Printer Error

Hi All,

I get the above run time error if i try and open a drawing by double clicking the file.

I also get this error message if i highlight the dwg file and enter open.

In both cases, Autocad does not open and i cant access drawings.

However, if i have Autocad open and open drawing through Autocad there is no problem.

Why, if this error is associated with printing, is it not allowing me to open the drawing without having Autocad open?

This only happens on laptop. No problem on PC.

Thanks in anticipation

Crawford

Is this a sudden new problem?
Why is it asking for a printer, did you add or remove one from the laptop?

Does your laptop have AutoCAD installed on it, or do you VPN into the desktop to use the program?

Laptop OS is...?
ABOUT command from inside your AutoCAD notes what as your exact version and variant?
Did you try this yet https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/DWG-file-type-asso...

Try Re – Associating your .DWG File

Right click onto a .DWG file

Then choose Another App

Then select AutoCAD Application (not the default one at the top.. it must not be working right)

Then select Always

Then OK.

Now test it out. I have several AutoCAD’s on my computer so it you do, you may have to go through these steps several times to get the right Version of AutoCAD to open for your .DWG files.

I hope this works. Happy New Years!!!!

Thanks, JRR.

Hi JRR,

Thanks for that.

Apologies for taking so long to reply. Been off work with serious flu.

Yeah your solution works albeit I used the autocad dwg launcher app.

Thanks again
