Romans.shx missing, faded text when plotting

In the attached screenshot, you can see the symbol ACAD gives me when I check the style of mtext. As a result, the text is much lighter than it should be when plotting.

In both the Windows and ACAD directories, there are several roman fonts so I'm not sure why it isn't being found. Has anybody come across this issue and troubleshooted it? Thanks.

Hi @Anonymous anbd welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Romans.shx is a standard font included with AutoCAD. I have attached a copy here for you if yours is indeed missing. I suspect however, that a path to the font has gotten changed or lost.

You can check to see if your font folder is still in your Support File Search Path through Options.

John,

Thank you for the speedy response and solution. For some reason the fonts folder was not loaded in the search path. Does this mean the person using this computer before me deleted the folder? I assume CAD automatically uploads it upon installment, but I incorrectly assumed it was still there....

HI slebel7GTNU,

If it was missing from the path I am not sure how this could have happened. It is possible a prior user could have done it but that would only be the case if you logged on using the exact same account.
