i have this drawing when opened and any xref inside it if you select the xref, then right click and use the xref related command. it ask you to select the object again. if i open more drawing this behavior carries on, including new drawing from template. If i don't open this drawing, then any other drawing is fine. i dealt with this behavior before and when you restart session it fixes it. However this file is persistent.
played with variable and all good. like pick first and anything selection related in the options. it is a civil 3d drawing so not sure that has anything to do with it. i didn't restart computer for a while but that shouldn't be it since it only get triggered with this particular drawing. 2019 format.
i attached it maybe someone can take a look why, just be careful don't open more files on top of it in case it infect other drawing. I worked long enough to see that happen before, open file infect other files with wrongful behavior.
try load any other cad as xref and see if you can replicate the problem.
Thank you!
ok i just worked on this file more. it's not just the xref. happens to other objects too like civil 3d featureline right click edit style and it ask me to select again. it's getting very annoying : (
ignore second reply, i had the noun verb on just playing around : )
so just the xref commands so far.
Hi,
>> it is a civil 3d drawing so not sure that has anything to do with it
your CAD dwg file contain a lot of ACAD_PROXY_ENTITY objects . these entities may cause conflicts and more unexpected errors . So mu suggestion is to use -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD ( AECTOACAD ) command for all of your dwg's . then use the new exported files , I'm sure that you will notice differences .

those are civil 3d objects they must be there can't export to acad yet maybe after construction lol.
so i do get problem with other objects. basically all the right click command after you select an object has that problem. now i can't use the subassemblies command. i am gonna copy this to a new civil 3d template and see if that fixes it.
so you can open as is and just test the xref, ignore the proxy stuff. or if you don't mind install the civil object enabler, but too much trouble i am sure. i think i'll post one in the civil 3d group, i am thinking it is an autocad problem but maybe it's civil 3d caused it. i am also going to try using pure autocad to open it see what happens.
