Render problem

I have created a 3D stair but when I render, the stair ceiling is faulty (see jpg). The offending "patch" is a planar surface.

Any clues please?

Hi @cve60069,

Pretty strange render! Is it possible to attach your model for me to investigate?

I suggest that you put in a solid instead of a surface to see if that behaves better.

Hi @cve60069,

I haven't tried rendering this yet but selecting the Surface and giving it a thickness seems to show properly in Realistic view.

Is this what you are looking for?

No. The problem persists. I have created a solid and no difference. I attach a drawing of a stair I produced earlier and I had no problem.  In this instance, the "ceiling" was a loft between two splines and I did not get the problem.  I think the issue lies with the planar surface.  When I have time, I will change the planar surface to a loft between two straight splines.

I deleted the planar object and joined two lines to the splines (see Figure 1). I then lofted the splines and the model rendered OK (see Figure 2).

The problem was with the planar surface.
