Renaming Folders above dwg files.

Renaming Folders above dwg files.

I am currently working on cleaning up our office's folder tree and have a question regarding the renaming of Main Folders above subfolders that contain dwg files. If I rename the main folder will all of the dwg files located within this main project folder lose their references?

For example, Our main project folder is titled:     1. Projects by client

it contains all of our projects by name below it, each with it's own tree of CAD files and xrefs.

If I rename this main folder:     01_PROJECTS

will all of the dwgs and xrefs located within that folder lose their references?

Maybe my knowledge of Full path vs. Relative Path is lacking in this area and that is what is needed to answer my question. Any clarification would be helpful.

Thank you.

Xrefs without path information works

Xrefs with relative paths will works

Xref in PROJECTNAME folders will works if you update the paths there too.

but Xrefs with absolut path info will be brocken, easy to understand, or?
