relearning autocad

I am trying to relearn AutoCAD after about 10 years.  I am currently using version 2017 and one issue I am having is when I am drawing a line and I click my starting point and then I want to enter my length.  When i being to type my length of 25, it will show the number 2 but when I enter the 5 it deletes the 2 and only shows the 5.  I am sure this is a simple fix but I am struggling with simple commands or at least getting them customized and fixed.

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome BACK to the Autodesk Community!

If you type DSETTINGS, and then select the Dynamic Input tab, you should be able to view the input settings. Can you share what this window looks like on your side?

Hi @nickojeda733,

I have been trying to duplicate the behavior on my AutoCAD and I am not having any luck. At first I thought that it was perhaps the dynamic input settings that might not be correct.

I made  a quick video that shows how I enter dimensions or angles when making a line.  Perhaps you can follow it and tell me if these steps correct your issue.

If not, can you perhaps make a Screencast or take some screen captures using the Windows Snipping Tool so I can see the behavior on your side?

At the risk of sounding stupid, can you type normally in other programs?  How about in the AutoCAD command line?

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

Set DYNMODE to -3 (just type it at the commandline) and see if your issue goes away.
