REGENMODE command: does it change to auto by itself???

This is just a curiosity.  I just installed 2016, a couple weeks ago.  I SWEAR that REGEN, if invoked twice, would ask the usual -- "Are you sure...", or whatever, to which I always type "Y".

Now, all of a sudden, it does it by itself.  The Autodesk help says that 2016 comes set with REGENAUTO set to ON; i.e., ON is the default out of the box.

I DID NOT change REGENAUTO from OFF to ON.  I am absolutely certain of this, because

a) I did not even know of the REGENAUTO command

b) The older Autodesk help says that the command that was earlier available to do this is obsolete.

So... the question is:  how did it change by itself?

Is there some clever programmer who said that she'd make it so that if you tend to REGEN often, in a session, it changes from OFF to ON??

I'd love an answer, because right now I'm attributing this behavior to ghosts, and while this particular time the unexplained change was advantageous, usually they are not.

Thanks,

Hi,

look to the help about REGENAUTO >>>here<<<, it shows that the command is obsolete 😉 (does not make any sense now with the graphic capabilities in current AutoCAD releases).

Looking to sysvar REGENMODE (>>>details<<<) gives as info that this sysvar is stored in the drawing. So every time you open another drawing the setting might be different. With other words: when you change this sysvar in drawing 1 that does not mean that the settings for drawing 2 is the same then.

Not true at all. Here's what I get when zooming in and out, really fast, on my roller mouse.
I don't understand why the Autodesk help says it's "removed", when I can type it, change it, as I like.

Hi,

>> I don't understand why the Autodesk help says it's "removed", when I can type it, change it, as I like.

It exists just for compatibility of scripts, but that's it. It does not make sense to change it any more.
