Red Lines on 3d Object

Anonymous
Not applicable

I was sent a drawing to work on with this object. It is a 3d object that shows red lines when viewed in 2D. I have attached a picture of the issue and a file with the object. The file attached only has one object. The actual file that i am working on has quite a few of these objects. I would like to know how to make it so it either only shows an outline or shows as a solid hatch. Basically I need to find a way to make the red lines disappear.

Hello @Anonymous,

Do the lines go away when you change the 3d View type? Try reviewing the object properties etc. show us a screenshot if possible.

Hello @Anonymous,

I opened it up & changed the view type & orbited around the object seems to be a simple 3d rectangle.

@Anonymous ,

You should ask the person who gave you this corrupted ACA file.  First, the object you are concerned about isn't an AutoCAD 3d solid. Instead it is a wall with a Concrete-X style. The style, however, has been corrupted by making odd changes to the material system.  Also, the wall is below the typical cut plane for Architectural plans. So the surface hatch is showing rather than the sectional hatch.

I have applied the correct style definition to the wall and raised it so that its base is at an elevation of 0.  This is what it should look like.

If you don't have AutoCAD Architecture, ask your consultant to send you AutoCAD only versions.

It's not a simple 3D object - it's a Wall object, created in Acad Architecture / MEP

To remove the red lines, you need to alter/override the Hatch Pattern assigned to the Concrete Material that is specified for this Wall Style. I don't think you can do this in standard Autocad.

BTW the file didn't seem 'corrupt' in any way to me.

To convert to standard Acad objects, rotate into a 3D View, type AECTOACAD and export the file. (If you do this in a Plan view, you only get 2D objects)
