Radius Column Bubbles

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone can help me. I need to create 1/4" text, MC justified, in 1/4" radius column bubbles. How do I do this? I need step-by-step instructions. I don't remember going over column grid bubbles at all and this is for my final project due tomorrow. I saved this step for last because I have no idea how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

TIA!

Danielle

-DRAW A CIRCLE AT ABOUT 1/2" DIA

-START MTEXT COMMAND AND CREATE A LETTER OR NUMBER AT 1/4"

-SELECT SAID LETTER OR NUMBER RIGHT CLICK AND GO TO PROPERTIES

-GO TO JUSTIFICACION AND SELECT MIDDLE CENTER

-PLACE LETTER IN CENTER OF CIRCLE WITH THE MC SNAP

-DRAW A LINE FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CIRLCE AND SET LINE TYPE TO HIDDEN OR DASHED

SAVE THIS AS A BLOCK AND USE IT IN FUTURE PROJECTS

Shorter [more direct -- no need to make the Text "somewhere" first, and then modify its justification and location] way:

CIRCLE

  {pick center}

1/4 {radius}

TEXT

MC {justification}

@ {insertion point -- re-use Circle center location}

1/4 {height, assuming the current Style does not have a fixed height}

0 {rotation}

  {give it your content}

I have been doing this but my issue is every time I draw a circle at a 1/4" radius it is much too small for the drawing and I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Are your units settings appropriate?  UNITS or -DWGUNITS command.

Or, are you drawing in model space of presumably a floor plan?  What you're getting would be as though you drew a 1/4"-radius Circle on the floor of the building.  The right size depends on the scale at which the drawing will be plotted.  If that's 1/4"=1'-0" scale, then something that should end up at a size of 1/4" on paper when plotted needs to be 1' in model space in the drawing.  If you are using paper space Layouts with Viewports into model space, you could draw it in paper space at the size you intend, and use the CHSPACE command to transfer it into model space if that's where you want it to be, and it will scale it appropriately.

I would agree with Kent, it sounds like a scale issue are you creating your circles in model space and your text in paper space or vice versa, or are they in the same space.

An alternate may be to use the TCIRCLE command, this takes your text and asks what spacing you want around it, and do you want a circle, rectangle or slot.  Just a thought...

I didn't want to say anything, we got your point, but then Captain America came into my office and told me to make it right, so...    Captain's orders and all...

Apart from people's comments here, do you drawing everything 1:1 scale in model space?

Attaching screenshots here does always help to people to help you. :cara_que_sonríe_con_ojos_sonrientes:

When you say the circle looks too small, did you view your drawing on layout?

If it is the case you may have to change the viewport scale to suit.

Edit.

By looking your question again I guess you placed grid numbers on layout? If so it should be alright.

Otherwise 1/4" texts (grid numbers) in model space are definitely too small when your drawing is in 1:1 scale.

A circle is the locus of a cursor, starting and ending at the same point on a plane in model space or in layout such that its distance from a given coordinates (X,Y) is always constant.

Danielle,
"...create 1/4" text, MC justified, in 1/4" radius column bubbles."
Everyone in this thread seems to understand, but I have absolutely no idea what you're trying to do. A picture would sure help.
