"Rotate"-command won't follow the cursor

Hi,

We have one drawing where the "rotate"-command won't follow the cursor. The only way to make the object turn is to write an angle and press enter.

The other "solution" was to copy everything to a new drawing.

Any idea of what could be behind this. It sounds like we have some parameter or similar set in that drawing which is causing this.

Hi,

some ideas:

  • layers could be locked.
  • You might have turned on ORTHO mode (so it will only turn in 90° steps
  • You have a UCS different to the view you look to

If you upload the drawing we would see more details and so give more valuable suggestions 😉

Hi,

I did unfortunately not get it to work, but I'll attach the dwg here. It contained some customer stuff so I deleted most of it (also as a bit of a test in case it would start working) but the problem remains with just the lines as well.

Don't spend an awful amount of time on this as there are workarounds. It would just be really interesting to know what is wrong. 🙂

Hi,

start command _ROTATE, select the objects, show a rotation point, then use option _REFERENCE (show 2 points as reference angle) ... then you can see the geometry dragging with your cursor ... doesn't it?

Hi,

sorry, I have forgotten the reason ... look to ANGBASE setting in your drawing

That an irregular angle and so it can't show the geometry dragging based on that angle ,)

Yay! Works - Thanks!

What should it actually be? I just put 0 there to test.

I see that they have 0 set as the initial value. I have never come across this one before. What is the idea behind it?

Hi,

>> What is the idea behind it?

Can't tell you any reason that makes sense to use it (that high value).

I guess it's more a problem withe data-exchange between applications or maybe problems with plugins installed/running ... but can be a lot of reasons.
