Quick Properties Setting Does not Migrate from Earlier Version of AutoCad

We are teaching inmates how to use AutoCAD.  Whenever we install a new version of AutoCAD onto their computers we choose to reload their settings from the previous version.  One of the settings that doesn’t seem to get transferred over is what they would like to be displayed In their Quick Properties palette.  Is there a way to transfer those settings?  If not, can those settings be written into a lisp routine so the changes can be applied to all of their computers (if so please explain how!)?

You are right the Quick properties do not migrate from one version to another.
This is a know limitation of AutoCAD.

I believe there are technical reasons behind, as verticals will have different based entities vs. autocad, it may induce side effects if those settings where just migrated as is...

I do not believe LISP would help much for this, may be .NET ?  But that looks like a tough job at first.

The Quick Properties are stored in the CUI (Customize User Interface).

When you run QuickProperties you will see a CUI icon in the top right of the dialog.

From the older version you can save the current settings to a file and load them into the new version.

There are two commands for this CUIEXPORT and CUIIMPORT.

I did some testing and you cannot transfer the quick properties via the CUI.

I did some further research and found it has been requested as a future enhancement.

We tried every which way we knew of to try get the Quick Properties Palette settings to migrate, transfer over, etc. including thru the CUI transfer method, exporting-importing with no luck on any attempt.  You’d think that the basic settings that say “show me this, show me that” would be able to be transferred over somehow, but they don’t (at least not that we’ve found).  It sure is a big waste of time (and some frustration) to go through all of the Q.P. settings and reapply what you want to see.  Let’s just hope that this is something that can be looked into and set to migrate in future releases.  Thank you.

Sorry to hear that you are having trouble migtrating the Quick Properties over. Would you please tell me the version of AutoCAD you are trying to migrate from and the version you want to migtrate to? 

Are you using the Migration tool to do this?

Has this ever been resolved?  

I just upgraded from Civil 3D 2015 to Civil 3D 2017.  Every time I click on a new type of entity I have to go into the CUI and customize the properties that will be displayed.  I have to do this for EVERY type of entity, individually.  This is an absurdly slow process because it first takes a long time to load the CUI, and then, once the properties are selected it takes a very long time before the CUI is saved and the cursor returns stops flickering and returns to full functionality.  Typically, the process takes 30 to 45 seconds.  This doesn't seem like much time, but it really disrupts the work process.

Every time I upgrade AutoCAD, I dread this process because it takes so long .  Why don't quick properties transfer automatically?
