Question of How Settings are Saved in AutoCAD

Hi Autodesk Community,

I have set up AutoCAD 2020 with custom drafting settings and am wondering how they could be transferred to my laptop. I found this program that is Export AutoCAD 2020 Custom Settings, and clicked it, although it asks if I want to include custom settings from networked locations, what does this mean?

- Thank you in advance for any help!

Include Custom Files in Networked Locations option if you have files in network locations that you want included in the transfer package that is created. i suggest also to read this AKN article >> Click <<

Hi,

Some companies have parts of the customization on the network, like fonts, like plotter PC3/PMP-files and stuff like this.

When you transfer now settings to one of your other workstations the question is:

Does this workstation have the same network environment, so it can access the fonts, PC3/PMP-files, ... ==> then these files are not needed to be copied into the transfer-package.

If your laptop is for homework, and so you need the fonts, plotter-files, ... on your local system or at a different path as you can't access the same network ... ==> then you need to copy these files from the network into the transfer-package too.

Hope this makes it more clear!
