Hello Everyone,

I am trying to publish multiple drawings as pdf file on AutoCAD2016.

Page setup for same has been in place but, once click on Publish to menu & select PDF i get error saying "The Plotter configuration cannot be used for one of there reason: the preset cannot be found, the device cannot be found, or the drive has a problem.

Note - (Please refer attached screenshot for ready reference)
Also, Publish & Publish option menu becomes deactive.
on same menu there are options such as DWF, DXF those options are working well but, once i select PDF i get error mentioned above.

Is there any way to change/edit these settings?

I have also tried re-installation of AutoCAD2016 but, issure remain open.Screenshot Error2 2016 AutoCAD.PNG

Regards, Pradip

Good morning Pradip,

I am sorry you are having the PDF publish problems! It sounds like you might have a damaged PC3 file.

Please tell me, are you able to print to one of the PDF drivers using the Plot command? If so, can you tell me which PC3 files work for you?

Please also try logging in as a different user on the workstation using full administrative permissions. Please let me know if the problem persists.

Hello @Anonymous,

Does your user account have local administrator permissions? It appears that you don't have "rights" to create the log files in the designated location.

Please post your answer on this thread so I can assist you further.

We, too, have just ran into this error.  We are using Autocad 2016 under administrator permissions on this computer.  We cannot publish without getting this error (see attachment).  But we can plot to a single pdf without any problems. It's just the 'publish' command that causes problems that are the same as paddy_8888 had at the top of this topic. Would there be any other ideas to try?

Thank you.

Bob

Hi @Anonymous,

Try these steps:

1) Log onto into the workstation as a new user with Administrator permissions to see if the problem persists

2) Reset settings to Default (you can back up your customizations) to see if the problem continues.

This doesn't actually appear to be the same problem but has similar outcome. I think the PDF driver has become corrupted or damaged in some fashion.

Thanks for the quick response.

I logged into this computer with my name and was able to publish without any problems.  I had the person who works on this computer log into this computer not through our work domain but through the computer itself.  And yes he was able to publish.  Luckily he has a stand alone Autocad so we were able to test this out. But when he logs into the computer using our work domain then he cannot publish to a PDF.  He can plot to a PDF by itself.  He can publish multiple drawings to printers or plotters without problems. It's just back to publish to PDF that's a problem.

And just to double check before proceding, your second item was resetting Autocad back to it's defaults, not the computer itself I hope.

HI @Anonymous,

Yes, the reset is to AutoCAD. If you click on the words in my post they give the instructions. It sounds as if the user permissions do not allow domain user accounts enough rights to perform the tasks. I prefer to make my user accounts local administrator accounts to avoid such issues.

Wanted to say resetting to defaults worked. Found a problem under our Printer Configuration Search Path that caused this. Resetting path fixed the problem. Thank you. Did not see Accept as Solution button on this page.

Hi paddy_8888,

I am sorry you are still experiencing problems with the publish to pdf.

Let's try this:

Open and assign each layout to the AutoCAD PDF (General Documentation) PC3. Save the drawing(s).

Next start the Publish command, Select Plotter named in page setup for the Publish to: field. Publish the set with those defaults and let's see if the problem still presents. IF that works, the next step is to do the exact same thing but to add a step where you select all the Default Page setups and override them with an imported one - perhaps the DWGtoPDF PC3.

Please let me know your results.
