I have someone requesting we change our dwf file names. This will be an ongoing thing. Say 1,000 sets with 8 sheets per set so it's worth a little time for me to figure this out.
When you plot file name + view name you get.
3610 - PLANS AND DETAILS-3515.dwf
I want to change it to.
3610 - PLANS AND DETAILS - 3515.dwf
It's the space around the - that we need.
DETAILS - 3515
My quick question would be.
Since acad is putting the - is it some type of variable you can set?
Hi @LDShaw,
This is likely something you would need to do from the OS side of things although it looks like it is naming the DWF from the file name of the layout. There are a variety of utilities available on the Internet. Here is one that I found that might handle this for you.
If this is from a layout tab do you use sheet sets to manage them?

Seems strange AutoCAD would hardcode something like that. Since AutoCAD puts the - in I was hoping it was controlled by a autocad variable or baring that someplace in the registry. It's got to be held someplace.
If worse comes to worse I will use a renamer.
You can use Bulk Rename Utility to do a batch rename of all files from *Details-* to *Details - *

I use Advanced Renamer right now. Even with all the rules I've created I still have some I have to do by hand. (Someone else makes the standards I have to abide by them.) Some names have - already others don't. Creating the rules to automatically rename the files is a real pain.
To give you a taste of the scope I am not halfway done and I already have 19,848 dwf's. Once they are approved I will have to create pdf's of them. It would simplify things GREATLY to be able to get this done in AutoCAD on the creation stage and not have to go through and check each file after they are done. AutoCAD is putting the - in. It's getting that - from someplace. I am hoping to find it and put my own characters in.
Hi @LDShaw,
I can certainly feel your pain with that many files. Is there a reason you need both formats? Here is an article that confirms that there is no way at present to do this in AutoCAD directly.
