Proxy Objects; ERROR in DeepCloneXlation:eWasErased; Copy To Clipboard Failed

Anonymous

All of the above seem to go hand in hand lately....

About a week ago I tried to open a file that was created in AutoCAD Civil 3D.... I crashed since I don't have that installed.  Since then, I've been having many issues trying to copy / paste, Wblock, etc.  I've done all the searches and have tried all the fixes but nothing seems to work.  It started when I tried to copy / paste and I recieved the "Copy To Clipboard Failed" pop up box and the "ERROR in DeepCloneXlation:eWasErased" came up on the command line.  When I searched for fixes, it brought me to the proxy objects.  I've tried the last ditch fix of -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD to rid my drawing of these proxy objects but they still don't go away.  Once I run that, I still get the errors shown in the image below.  It states that the proxy items are associated with Civil3D.  How do I get rid of these final proxy objects?  I've done multiple -EXPORTTOAUTOCAD on this file (oh...and I get the "ERROR in DeepCloneXlation:eWasErased" when I run it as well) to no avail.  And,  I've deleted all temp files that were associated with crashing....HELP!

Thanks,

Christine

Hello Christine and welcome to the Forums!

When you see the Proxy Information message, it is telling you that there are object(s) in your drawing that were created with an addon program or object enabler. In this case, there appear to be two:

aeccvBase100

2 objects

aeccLand100

10 objects

When you are talking about other versions of AutoCAD that have additional capabilities beyond that of vanilla AutoCAD, often there can be objects created that cannot be accessed with the OOTB software.

AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016 Object enabler

The Civil Object Enabler is a freeware application that you can use to access Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D drawing files. This release allows object data created in Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016 to be accessed outside the Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D 2016 environment.

You should be able to install the OEs (remember to choose the correct version, either 32 or 64 bit) from the above website.

For future drawings you are getting from an outside source, you can have them do an Export to AutoCAD, which will change/strip out those elements that are making them hard to load.

If the ERROR in DeepCloneXlation error continues to occur, please post back and I will help you with that.

Thanks Steve,

After I posted, I did some more digging and installed the Object Enabler you posted.  The proxy warning is now gone.  BUT the "Copy to Clipboard Failed" and "ERROR in DeepCloneXlation" are still happening.

Thanks

Christine

Hi Christine;

Is this only happening when you open this particular file, or all the time, when any .dwg file is open?

Could you please answer a couple of questions?

1. What version of AutoCAD is this?

2. What OS are you using?

3. When you say "I've done all the searches and have tried all the fixes but nothing seems to work." please state the things you have tried so there is no duplication of effort.

Have you seen this article?

Looks like I finally found the culprit.... now just to figure out how to fix it...

I reinstated the original "out-of-the-box" profile.  Since we run CadWorx and CadWorx Equipment through AutoCad, we have to add those support paths into the "Support File Search Path" of the "Files" portion of the "Options" dialogue box.  I can add the CadWorx path (C:\CADWorx 2015\Plant\Support) without problems but as soon as I add the CadWorx Equipment path (C:\CADWorx 2015\Equipment\Support), my "Copy to Clipboard Failed" errror returns.  I remove that path and restart, it goes away.  If I run CadWorx Equipment as a separate entity, all is good as well.

For now I will just run the two programs separate but in the meantime I'll continue to try and figure out why these errors are happening.  I'm thinking something in my Registry??

Christine;

Yes, it sounds like there is some corrupt file element in the CadWorx Equipment path (C:\CADWorx 2015\Equipment\Support) or possibly the registry.

You might want to uninstall/reinstall that program, or maybe run Microsoft Fixit to see if it can help you get rid of the bad registry entry/corrupt file that is causing the error.

Good catch!

Thanks Steve,

I did do an uninstall/reinstall on cadworx which didn't help. I'll see if the Microsoft Fixit helps.

Thanks for the advice... Hopefully it works!

If the FixIt doesn't help, you might want to uninstall the CADWorx, then search for and delete any folders you can find with that name, then reboot and try the reinstall of CADWorx again.

Often it is the case that a residual file (one NOT uninstalled during the uninstall process) is the one that is corrupt, forcing the user to search-and-destroy any folders of the offending program.

This link might help:

Completely Uninstall CADWorx 2013 from Computer

I do not recommend downloading any uninstall programs, just use the info on the site to find the elements to delete.

Did you get your issue resolved?

Unfortunately no Steve.  I uninstalled CADworx again, this time finding every extraneous file I could that was associated with the program (I used that link you sent to help me find everything).  I reinstalled and the same issue occurs once I put the CadWorx Equipment path back in the Support File Search.

Not sure where to go from here except to run the two programs separately.

Christine;

Honestly, at this point you should probably try the CADWorx user Forums as they are more familiar with their software, and others might be experiencing the same issue that you have:

http://www.intergraph.com/ppm/customers/tuf/

Also, if you are using AutoCAD 2016, maybe there are version conflicts with their 2015 software.

Solution.

Hello fellow Acad users.

Some of us have had the issue with the Copy to clipboard failed message.

This i a solution for those having this problem with Blockes and proxy errors.

SOLUTION.

1: Open the drawing from wich u get the message.

2: Select the block you want to copy.

3: Rightclick and edit block in place (click ok for any popup windows).

4: Use the save changes command from the ribbon.

5: Copy your block by selecting it and ctrl c.

6: Open the drawing you wish to paste the block and use ctrl V basepoint 0,0,0 if using chorrds.

Enjoy!

Ps. Autodesk saves the block as a autodesk proxy object using this method.
