Grade Profile Not Updating

I have pipe profile views with profiles from existing and proposed surfaces. I have noticed that when I make edits to my FG surface, the profile does not update on the profile view even after many regens and even exiting and rentering the project. Only after selecting the profile, going to it's properties, and toggling it from dynamic to static and back again does it finally update. Obviously it isn't supposed to work like this. Is there a setting that will get these back to updating automaticly again? I am using Civil 3D 2016 with all current updates.

Are these pipes both xrefd and data referenced into the drawing(s) that won't update?

The pipes are live in the drawing. The pipes are working just fine. It is the profile grade that is not updating.

Have you received any more feedback on this?

Same issue here on 2016 SP2.  I have to turn off the old profile grade line through profile view properties and add another instance of the surface to the profile.  This is for storm lateral plan and profiles data referencing a surface in a separate file and set to dynamic.  Tried validating, auditing, and recovering with no luck.  The grades appear to be updating in the roadway plan and profiles sheets fine.  I haven't tried repeating in 2017 as we aren't rolling that out until next month.
