Program crashes when saving or switching layouts

I've been working in a drawing that will no longer let me save the document without it crashing. Not only can I not save, I cannot switch among my layout tabs without the program crashing either. I have tried the "audit" and "purge" commands with no avail. I have also checked to see the graphic driver is up to date and one that is recommended by the program. I've tried setting "proxygraphics" to <0> and this does not help either. I am wondering if I need to try reinstalling AutoCAD all together or if there are any other fixes/commands I can attempt?

I'd try a Repair/Reinstall to see if that fixes it first.

I've tried a repair and reinstall and that didn't seem to work either.

And its only that file? Does it do the same on all files?

Not surprised. If AutoCAD is to the point of needing repair/reinstall - it usually won't even run. It's much more likely that you need to reset your user settings (or what some call a hard profile reset). This involves renaming a registry key, and two folders. See this. (the article says to delete the registry key, but I just add a ".old" to the end of the name of it.) This will reset AutoCAD back to the defaults for that user, just like it's never been started up.

I have done this probably 30 times in the last couple of years (for multiple users, not just me) and it works 99% of the time.

It is only this file, all of my other drawings work fine.

Is it possible to have the registry file titled something different in my registry tree? I don't have the title "ACAD-E001:409" instead its "ACAD-F022:409". Is this the same thing?

Fix this one problem file: here is a long list of many things to try, no one is the miracle cure https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCA...

Most of these I am unable to do because it won't even let me save, copy, or switch views in the corrupted drawing...

INSERT the problem file into a working blank template file of yours, EXPLODE then SAVEAS to a new file.
Recreate the layouts from scratch and see if that becomes more stable.

Then abandon the original problem file.
