problem with mesh diagram ( explained in text and picture)

Greetings friends,

For my project report, I am new to AutoCAD and I need to draw solar panels in AutoCAD.  I need to draw the solar panels exactly as shown in figure which has a right angle triangle extruded (transparent thought) with only front and back visible so that I can mention various components in the figure. I seem to have problem with the mesh, I have uploaded my file in attachments. I would be very grateful if I could get some help please...hand drawing.jpg

Hello @Anonymous ! I took a look at your drawing and I am not sure what the issue you're faced with is. Can you share a bit more detail about it?

Also, in case it helps you--you can use the FLATSHOT command to convert 3D objects into 2D entities, so you may then proceed with adding annotations like text and other information.

Hello,

Looking at the diagram and the drawing included, I am guessing you are looking for a better way to do what you have done.

So, for starters, you will probably want to change WScurrent to 3d modeling. Then you will see the modeling tools. You can go to the tab Solid and see the basic shapes to work with. In Primitive, you can click the down arrow on primitive and find wedge. You just want a wedge right? That will already set up your correct angles and you just enter the length, width, height.

But then the question is, if it is solar panels, do you want the ends on the shape? You can CONVTOMESH or CONVTOSURFACE. I think you want surface not mesh. When you have converted to surfaces, now you edit the surfaces using control selection to pick edges, faces, or corners. As well you can use grips to edit. I would suggest turning CULLINGOBJ to off, it makes the grips and edges more visible. If you want to get rid of the ends entirely - EXPLODE the surface to individual faces and then delete faces you do no need.

Or if you need it as a solid, draw the wedge or create a BOX and then taper the faces using SOLIDEDIT. You can do a shell if you need it to have thickness. If you want to join shapes together use UNION command. That should get you headed in the right direction.

More specifically, draw the wedge you want (I think you can use what you have if you want), convtosurface, explode, select all the faces you don't want and delete. Set VScurrent to either 2d wireframe or 3d wireframe. this should give you two see through surfaces. Now, click the cube in the corner to the front face and use UCS VIEW to change to the front face. Draw in all the stuff you have drawn using line and DIMALIGNED commands. I will attach a quick drawing, but probably it is not exactly what you want so you will want to do it. UCS WORLD sets you back to the standard coordinates.
