I have AutoCAD 2007 and have installed it into my laptop that has Windows 8.1. When I click to open a

drawing file, I get the message that the command was basically not compatible or can  not be executed.

Laptop is 64-bit operation with i3 processor.

I seek to access drawing files that I accessed in Windows 7 without any problem whatsoever.

Thank you

HI @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Your AutoCAD 2007 is not really designed to work in Windows 8.  Here are the system requirements for the application.

You might be able to get it running by running it in Compatibility mode.

Please tell me, are you trying to edit  the files? If so and you are trying to eliminate costs, AutoCAD Mobile might be an option for working in a web browser. If you are just trying to view the files you can also consider DWG Trueview or the A360 online viewer.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

John:

Thank you much for your suggestion of Compatibility Mode and troubleshooting.

Your suggested solution worked fine! ACAD2007 running in Windows 8.

Terrific.  Thank you.
