Is it possible to change cad settings to print layers that are switched off? It would be great for large background images (such as ortophoto or maps) that are neccesary in the final drawings but make working in the model difficult. I would switch them off in model and never worry about them again, but I would know that they will be printed when printing into pdfs.

nope...any layers that are off remains off unless you run a macro/lisp to turn them on prior to printing and then turn them back off after printing
