Point ID in full...?

I have been asked to verify points on a particular set of plant GA drawings.

I do this by typing ID and then picking the point.

However, the (x, y, z) answers come back in scientific notation, such as 4.45816789E08, 6.65987458E08, 0.00000, etc.

How do I translate the number to a full number, I know, in this particular case, that the last digit is a rounded number and the actual numbers are xxx-xxxxxxxx, xxx-xxxxxxxx, 0.00000

But how do I show full numbers or any ID?

Any ideas?

Cheers.

Hi @david.penney00

What are your UNITS?

  1. Type UNITS on command line.
  2. Length=>Decimal
  3. Select number of decimal places=>OK to exit.

Hi,

Firstly, many thanks for your prompt response.

I am using mm units.

I had already set the decimal places as per your screenshot.

However, the returned ID numbers are bigger than the decimal places set. So I need to know if it is possible to just "view" the whole number in standard format and NOT Scientific notation, similar to a calculator...?

Hi @Anonymous.penney

Yes, it’s possible to reduce the decimal

places.

Your post, however, doesn’t describe where the numbers in scientific are displayed. Do you see them in the Task Bar? Or the Properties Palette? Or somewhere else? Would be possible to upload a screenshot for verification?

Type UNITS on command line then take a screenshot of the entire Drawing Units window.

Attached find my units settings, and the Vessel ID in the command line area.

In this case I KNOW the coordinates, and they are rounded up, so not accurate.

Such as in the screenshot the actual numbers (mm) are:

X = 445175855
Y = 6781346785

Z = 0.0

But as you can see in the other screenshot, they have been rounded out in Scientific Notation.

When checking the other vessel ID, I need to see the full actual numbers a indicated above, obviously to suit the specific vessel.

Cheers

mm here does not mean you're working in mm

You have to use

-DWGUNITS and choose the unit you want to work with.

The question here is you want to use mm and you wanted 8 decimals?
