Point Cloud will not display

Sorry to have to ask this question as it has been covered here a lot in the past, but I cannot seem to get it figured out.

When I insert a point cloud (rcp) I get the bounding box with "Point clouds are not displayed when hardware acceleration is off.

I have no problems with ReCap or Inventor.  I hope I have supplied enough information in the bellow screen shots.  If not, just ask and I will get whatever we need to help resolve this issue.

Thanks, Steven

That's why you have your issue, your AutoCAD session is only using the low end graphics option on your system (other programs doing it mean nothing sadly)

Engage with your IT person (or you can do so yourself) and go through this long list from Autodesk on how to remedy that, do not skip anything

So I went through all these steps again to no avail.  I then saw the "Restore Defaults" in the Graphics Performance settings in AutoCAD.  Sure enough, that did the trick and it works.

Thanks so much for the help!!

This did not work for me.

I was working away when my point cloud just - disappeared. Just like that, it vanished. I spent an entire day and more working on this problem. The boundary box is there; everything checks out, but nothing has worked. You name it, I tried it. I even tried opening the entire file package on another system, but the result was the same. Once the point cloud has vanished in a drawing file - it's vanished forever! This is a very expensive problem!

@ASBII Does the RIBBON change to pointcloud-specific elements when you see the bounding box?

Did you change your shademode setting?

Have you seen this yet:

Thank you for replying.

The problem is now fixed. How? Beats me. In my effort to correct this problem, I have inadvertently corrected another problem (for now) that I consider even more problematic. My original request for assistance was for an explanation as to why, when working with PC, AC instantly freezes when I pan or zoom during an edit command. I must have [Alt, Ctl Del] no less than 30 times in a single day while trying to change/manage my workflow to avoid the problem while producing the output needed by the next person in line. You might know how it is - the team waits on you, go, go!

System Specs: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-Core Processor 3.80 GHz, 64.0 GB, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER.

I plan to upgrade to a 16-bit processor in a month or so. However, it would seem a waste of money if the software was not reliable enough to appreciate the hardware.

It's working again, and I have no idea why.

Trying to produce output using a faulty tool while also trying to fix that faulty tool to produce the output induces a cycle of madness. It's been a hellish 24 hours.

I appreciate your comment. Thanks for taking an interest.
