Plotter Configuration Cannot be Used...

Hi All,

When one (out of 30) of my users attempts to publish (batch) a collection of drawings OR a Sheet Set, and they select the "PDF" option in the "Publish to" drop-down list, they instantly get the error message in the attached file. If they plot each drawing to a PDF individually, everything is fine.

"The plotter configuration cannot be used for one of these reason: the preset cannot be found, the driver cannot be found, or the driver has a problem."

Please notice that this message appears whether we select the page setup or not. It fails as soon as we pick the "PDF" in the "Publish to" box.

This user is on AutoCAD 2017 and most others are pre-update and using 2015 BUT at least half a dozen other are also on 2017 and all are pointing to the same plotter/plot styles/pmp files.

TIA,

Sal

My bad. I just found out that some of the other 2017 users are also seeing this message.

Are the plotter files for 2015 NOT compatible with those of 2017?

Hi All,

Yup, it is a 2017 thing. When publishing to PDF, there is an additional printing option for Gen'l Documentation, High Qual, Smallest File... So I suspect this required different drivers et al.

Sorry for this disruption to your day but at least now I/we know how to move forward.

Thanks

Sal,

What was the solution here? My office is having the same problem with publish to pdf. We have the problem in both 2014 and 2016 versions. I suspect its a pathing problem.

Thanks,

Tommy

Hi Tommy,

We skipped 2016 and went from 2015 to 2017 but for us, the problem was the PC3 file Autodesk used for publishing to a PDF. The solution for us...

Don't use the "DWG To PDF.pc3" that came with 2014 to publish from 2016. Instead, point your

"Options > Files > Printer Support File Path > Printer Configuration Search Path"

to a path with the same file name ("DWG To PDF.pc3") that comes with 2016.

HTH,
