Plot Styles issue

This is probably really basic, but I am pulling my hair out here. Using AutoCAD 2015 and 2017.

I am trying to print a drawing in monochrome to a PDF using my Adobe PDF Windows system printer (or my laser monochrome for that matter)

Been doing this for years, but all of a sudden it has stopped working properly.

After I started having issues, I installed AutoCAD 2017 to see if that was better.

Where I am now is when I open the file in 2015, the plot style doesn't seem to be working at all - colours all show in plot preview.

Open the same file in 2017 and everything is in monochrome in plot preview, except the arrowheads - which are the layer colour.

Can someone please point me in the direction of some basic plot style help? I must be missing something.

Obviously I have screwed something up.

OK - so I exploded one of the affected dimensions and edited the arrowhead block (_ClosedBlank) - changing the plot styles on the included lines and saved. Now the arrowheads are in monochrome as well.

It seems to have started with a missing plot style - but not sure where that went.

I have created different plot styles over the years due to my lack of understanding, and I think that is causing the issue.

So if anyone knows of any basic tutorials on this, I would very much appreciate.
