Plot Style Tables

Good Evening, I am new to AutoCAD and I am struggling to get my plot style table to print "ByLayer" instead of "ByColor" I have tried several things but no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Best Regards,

Joe

I'm not 100% sure what you mean. It sounds like maybe you have some override issues going on. Go to modelspace  and use the qselect command (type q in the command line) to select everything on the layer you're referring to. Then hit cntl+1 to open your properties window and look where it says color. If it says *VARIES*, then click there on that dropdown and select "ByLayer". You may have to do this in paperspace too.

If this still doesn't work, I'm guessing you have some items within blocks that are forced to a certain color. Those have to be manually changed within the block editor. Hope that makes sense.

it's possible that you may have objects drawn that have their own assigned colors which don't follow colors assigned by layer. Perhaps you can share a sample and describe what you're seeing?

Please disregards the previous posts as they are telling you how to change colors. I think you might want to look into using a .stb plot syle.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

@monte_joseph1

Your explanation is vague. What does your existing line work look like? Upload a screen shot.

Do the existing objects have multiple colors? Or are they the same color? Do you want those objects to plot the multiple colors as displayed in modelspace? Or plot a different color than what you see?

Do you have an example illustrating the final outcome? Upload a screen shot.

If you want to plot exactly as displayed on your monitor AND each individual

object’s color is set to ‘ByLayer’ then choose <None> as the pen assignment.

Hi ChicagoLooper, I have uploaded a screenshot as an example. In the
drawing my object lines (Blue) are supposed to be a .60mm diameter my
radius, and circles are correct, however when I use the line command it
plots points rather than a thicker line. when my lineweight is turned off
the image is correctly shown but with default lineweights.
