Plot - Fit to Paper Issues

Hi, Thanks in advance for your help!

I have "fit to paper" selected but my plots and PDFs are not fitting the entire paper. My drawing is fitting about 1/4th of the paper.

Hi @Anonymous

1. Scale your Title block in Paper size (A1 or A3)
2. Create New Page Set Up Using DWG To PDF .pc3.
3. Select A1 Or A3 Size.
4. Plot Area Select By Window
5. Mark Center To Plot
6. Fit To Paper
7. ok

It works fine here but you didn't include the referenced images.

If you want to print to scale, do not use "fit to paper".

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Hi,

>> I have "fit to paper" selected but my plots and PDFs are not fitting the entire paper.

you have to check the other settings NOT only " Fit to paper " , from PLOT dialog check :

  • What to plot ( Window ) .
  • Center the plot .
  • Drawing orientation ( Portrait , Landscape ) .

Regards,

If you're plotting to FIT, then scale doesn't matter (I hope and assume) so I suggest using a selection WINDOW. Just window around the area you want to print. Keep in mind that while everything that is drawn to scale will be to scale, relatively speaking, but not printed to a specific, pre-set scale.

If you look at the file, the layout is sized for 11x17 and the printed paper size is tabloid. It should be printed 1:1. No need for the fit option.

I agree. I guess I wasn't clear with what I meant. If somebody is printing to "fit" you negate the scale of the drawing and the drawing size/scale doesn't matter. It's going to "fit" on the paper but it won't be to a real scale.

Yes this file is set to tabloid, etc, and should be scaled at a 1:1. Printing from paper space should typically be done at a 1:1 scale.

Just experienced the same problem with someone elses drawing. Set to Fit to Paper - PLot extents, the preview looks good, but when created PDF file (Print to PDF), the last line was cut-off. I tried many variations, the only work around was changing Plot to Windows (in What to Plot).

Never experienced the same problem with my own drawings.

It's an problem what can appear with files/pagesetups from older versions.

Show us: post that DWG file here for someone to dig deeper to identify the trigger/problem.
