Placing a block in paperspace on drawing with vports?

I am a little oldschool and still don't have a complete understanding of paperspace vs modelspace and viewports.

I think i understand the concept but not sure how to use them properly.

I have been giving the task of adding "Piece marks" to some plans and elevations, the piece mark symbol we use is a rectangular box with a long number in it then a ellipse with a short number in it next to the rectangle, then you draw a leader between the rectangular box and a point on the pipe.

I am thinking that I can make the blocks and insert them in the paperspace so they will all be the same size? Will I be able to draw a leader across a viewport and point at a piece of pipe that is in modelspace?

Thanks for any comments.

not clearly understand your problem but you can use multileaders to anotate and snap its leader to any object in viewport from paperspace.

Steve,

if you only got 1 viewport i recomend inserting the block in model space cause there is always a chance by mistake that the viewport scale will be changed and you will loose the connection. even if you have 2 viewports with different scales i still say do the same

(as you are accustom to do without viewports)
