performance slowly when changing between layouts

In AutoCAD 2018 or even 2021, the software performs slowly when changing between layouts.
The first change to a tab is slower, but consequently new changes after opening the file are also very slow, taking up to 30 seconds if the file has many layouts with several viewports.
The greater the number of viewports per layout, the slower it becomes to switch between layouts, as I increase the viewports by layout, the slower the process becomes, I have already updated the software, put HPMAXLINES to 1000000, I have already made other solutions such as changing the INDEXCTL for 3, or, or UPDATTHUMBNAIL = 7, DISPLAYVIEWCUBEIN2D and DISPLAYVIEWCUBEIN3D as OFF, as you recommend and does not work.
I tried a ZWCAD software and then I don't have that problem, I can have 10 layouts with 20 viewports each layout with the exception of the first layout change, which can take about 10 seconds, the others are very fluid, which is not happening to me in AUTOCAD , I already tested it in version 2021 and it also presents the same problem as in 2018…
My computer has a Ryzen 3950x processor, 64GB of RAM and an Nvidia 2080 Super graphics.
In a file with a reduced number of viewports, there are no big problems, but when I enter the execution phase and I have to create several layouts, with several viewports, this becomes very uncomfortable, I spend a lot of time waiting to switch between layouts.
What makes this performance so slow when switching between layouts in AUTOCAD?

Hi,

can you upload such a file so we can test the file on our systems?

I already tested those solutions that you talked about ... I sent a file where it happens by private messages

Hi,

>> I sent a file where it happens by private messages

That is what I get (and so possible the first 3 reasons why the file behaves different on my system):

20200412_151651_0001.png20200412_151705_0001.png20200412_151851_0001.png

  • DWG created from a non Autodesk product
  • Civil 3D proxies embedded
  • Referenced files missing

You are using layouts in a different way as they are supposed to be used, e.g. the paper area in layout "Cortes" is different to the geometry you have placed on the paperspace. Or layout "plantas" .. same here, a lot of geometry outside the paper area.

But most important: AutoCAD 2021 on my system (without object enabler installed) needs less than 10sec for any layout activation after opening the drawing. Activating layouts a second time needs less than 3sec.

this specific drawing was created in other software, but even when I start one from scratch in autocad and start placing several layouts with many viewports ... I know what's wrong ...

Hi,

Why not creating different layouts for such situations? Then you can use _PUBLISH, you don't need to define a window (and may pick the wrong point) and some other advantages.

And just to remember, you have seen that my system does not need 30sec to change from one layout to the other? Or do I have to do something special to see the slowness? I just opened the file and activated one layout after the other ... and changed to modelspace too.
