Keep in mind that in the content stream for PDF files the coordinates are often rounded to a low as two decimal places (for minimum file size).  The two decimals are adequate to define the point on a sheet of paper but that's all.

Your dimension of 0.3008 is very likely in excess of the source precision!  PDF files are dumb plot files and while some look quite nice when imported are not DWG quality.  If anyone ever constructs anything from a PDF file import, there should be warning signs posted !!!

If you know the scale of you PDF:

  1. Apply the appropriate scale factor when you create the pdf underlay.
  2. Use DIST or add some dimensions to check if the scale is correct. (It is best to check the longest distance you can. You may want  to add up a series of dimensions to get a total.)
  3. Select the PDF and scale by (measured/actual)

If you do not know the scale of you PDF, create the pdf underlay using a scale of 1, or whatever you prefer, then adjust per step 2 1nd 3.

Scaling based on the longest line with a known value minimizes any inaccuracy.
