PDF Import Issue

I scanned a small graphics from a catalog and can not get it to import.  It says "No objects were imported" "The specific page or area of the PDF file contains no objects."  It shows the graphics in the preview but when you click OK it says what I stated above.  I even drew a few lines on a peice of paper and it say the same.  When I import a PDF file that was made from a Autocad dwg it works fine.  Any ideas?  Thanks

What filetype did you save the scanned file as?  PDFattach works with saved PDF files only.

I attached the file I'm talking about.  It's a pretty rough graphic but thought I would see if I could clean it up once I imported it.  Thanks.

Scanning creates raster PDF files: basically pictures. AutoCAD does not convert pictures.
AutoCAD creates vector PDF files, those are still objects in and of themselves. PDFIMPORT imports these only.

You wil need to contact YANMAR, the authors of your graphics booklet, for CAD content.

As this is a scanned PDF in the area that has PDF data to import make sure you have "Raster Images" selected.

Thanks all for the input.  I knew the import was a raster image but I guess I was hoping it would convert it to lines and arcs so I could modify it.  Thanks again.

As of right now no auto convert

You can try vercotrize it or raster CAD or just doing a tracing, but given the content of this image you will probably do better by doing what @pendean mentioned and contact yanmar

Short of that if you have the actual document number i might google search the document number followed by pdf and you might get lucky and find a vector PDF, but if experience has taught me anything its that that would be too easy hehe.

I typically use PDFattach to place the image and then scale the object so that the size matches the dimensions. Then I trace over.  It takes relatively little time for simple shapes from a catalog page.

Here's another issue I encountered today. When I try to import a PDF file I get an error message that says, "You have selected an unsupported DGN file. Only V7 and V8 DGN files are supported." This only happens on file that a certain vendor has supplied me with. I have successfully imported PDF files from other sources. The error comes up before I get to the dialogue box.
