Pdf import issue

When I export my AutoCAD drawing to a pdf file (dwg to pdf), then re-import the pdf file again into AutoCAD, the lines of the drawing are distorted (lines from the imported pdf; exported from AutoCAD, are different than the lines from the original AutoCAD file).

Is there a way to fix this or a workaround?

Hi,

>> are different than the lines from the original AutoCAD file

PDF is not a CAD format, so exporting geometry from AutoCAD to PDF does not know anything about CAD internal properties, these are lost as the only thing you get in the PDF is "it should look like CAD on the paper", but not more than paper knows about a line.

If you want to keep CAD geometry then please save it as DWG.

Hi,

The pdf converted from dwg, when re-imported back to dwg will have distorted elements as the AutoCAD can't recognize the few of the elements. while most of the object will be imported as it was in dwg. What can be done is to redraw the elements which are distorted. You could have the option " infer linetypes and collinear dashes" check while using PDFIMPORT which would replace each set of collinear dashed segements with polyline, like if there are any dashed lines in the drawing it will be replaced with dashed linetype rather than small unjoined line segments.

That  would be grand, unfortunately the system does not do this, even for non-dashed lines.  I am using c3d 2024.
