Path error when opening as normal user

I install Acad as administrator, but when opening as user, the secundairy installer starts and results in a fatal error. Stating the the path is invalid.

The HKCU\software\autodesk\autocad\ACAD-E001:409 is created, but the values of the paths are pointing to the administrator profile and not the current user profile.

When I give the user some right the admin profile, acad starts without a problem, but that can't be the solution.

Any thoughts how to fix this? Simply changing the register values is not working, the secundairy installer starts again and changes everything back.

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

>> Stating the the path is invalid.

Stating which path is invalid?

Can you show a screenshot from that message?

>> the values of the paths are pointing to the administrator profile

Are you starting with a predefined profile? (e.g. do you have desktop icons which start AutoCAD with a ARG-file)?

Did you run the installation just from the download without any customizations? Or was the setup prepared e.g. by creating a network setup package with predefinitions.

>> I install Acad as administrator,

Just to make sure: you installed with another user account? Or you installed with the same user account (as now starting AutoCAD), but gave that user admin permissions and then removed these permissions afterwards?

I tired 2 shortcuts, one with out any options, and one with /language flag to 'en-us'.

With the first one I get the message "FATAL ERROR: Invalid Configuration path\filename: c:\users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\Autodesk AutoCAD 2015\R21\enu\"

With the other shortcut the installer runs only for a few seconds and then I get the error that Acad is not working anymore and needs to be closed.

The software is installed from the administrator account, acad is installed a part from a suite with Revit etc.

Hi,

>> Invalid Configuration path\filename: c:\users\Administrator\AppData[...]

it's unusual to get anything pointing to user "Administrator" when you are logged in with another name. Is it possible that you renamed a user account name in Windows? Or what happens if you create a new user locally for Windows, login with that account and start AutoCAD from the Windiws start-menu ==> Autodesk ==> AutoCAD 2015 ==> ...?

>> With the other shortcut the installer runs only for a few seconds and then I get the error that Acad is not working anymore

Can you make a screenshot and upload this, it is helpful to see the type of message and exact wording of the message you are getting.

Hi,

I don't have AutoCAD LT, but it looks strange that your registry points to AutoCAD, while the exception shows that ACADLT.EXE is crashing.

As I don't have AutoCAD LT I don't know if the path in the registry is correct for LT: HKCU\software\autodesk\autocad\ACAD-E001:409

What product exactly do you have installed?

And if anyone out there has LT installed, can the above registry path be verified?

The reg path is my bad, made a typo. LT is indeed the installed version. Reg path is also to HKCU\software\autodesk\autocad lt\ACADLT-E001:409
